The oven is the single most common deposit deduction in London, and most cleaning companies charge £25 to £75 extra to do it properly. On every end of tenancy and deep clean we do, it is included free. On its own it is £69 for a single.

For comparison, Fantastic Services list £75 for a single, £93 for a double and £123 for a range at the time of writing. We are cheaper on the two that most people have and dearer on the range — we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
What a proper oven clean includes
Every one of these, not as extras:
- The racks and the trays, soaked and scrubbed rather than wiped
- The door glass — both panes. Most of the brown staining people assume is permanent is between the panes, and on the majority of ovens the door comes apart to reach it
- The rubber door seal, cleaned without being stretched or torn, which is where cheap oven cleaning goes wrong
- The roof of the oven and the element around it
- The grill pan and its housing, which is behind the door and is the single most missed item in the whole kitchen
- The fan cover, the side liners and the floor of the cavity
- The controls, the handle and the outside of the door
We use a dip-tank method for removable parts and non-caustic products inside the cavity, so the kitchen is usable straight away and there is no smell in the flat afterwards.
Why the oven decides your deposit
Cleaning is the most disputed item in deposit claims in the UK — the Deposit Protection Service put it at 29.4% of all claims in its 2025 figures, the top cause for the fifth year running, and the Tenancy Deposit Scheme says cleaning features in around half of the cases its adjudicators see.
Within that, the oven is the item a check-out clerk opens first, because it is the one thing a tenant almost never cleans to inventory standard. It photographs badly and it is easy to evidence, which is exactly why it gets charged for.
That is the reason we stopped selling it as an add-on. Charging extra for the one item most likely to cost you your deposit is a strange way to run a cleaning company.
Hobs, extractors and the filter nobody lifts out
The extractor filter above the hob lifts out and goes through the dishwasher or a degreaser soak. Left alone it stops pulling air, holds the smell of everything ever cooked, and over a gas hob it is a genuine fire risk. Across NW1 to NW11 — Camden and Primrose Hill, Hampstead, Belsize Park and Swiss Cottage, St John’s Wood and Maida Vale, West Hampstead, Kilburn, Brondesbury and Queen’s Park, Cricklewood and Childs Hill, Willesden, Kensal Rise and Kensal Green, Golders Green and Temple Fortune.
An oven on its own is usually a same-week appointment, and often next day outside the last few working days of the month.
