Childs Hill, Temple Fortune and the Garden Suburb

NW11 covers three quite distinct pockets, and the households in each want different things from us.

Childs Hill. Sitting between Golders Green and Hampstead, and quieter than either. Edwardian terraces, 1930s semis and newer flats, with a steady flow of rental property because it is the affordable way to have an NW postcode. We do a lot of end of tenancy work here, and a lot of regular cleaning for families who moved out of NW3 for the space.

Hampstead Garden Suburb. A designated conservation area of Arts and Crafts houses with leaded windows, oak floors and original ironmongery. These are houses where the wrong product does real damage, so we use pH-neutral on the timber and nothing abrasive anywhere near the leaded lights. Usually a weekly or fortnightly housekeeping visit rather than one-off work.

Temple Fortune. Substantial Edwardian and inter-war houses on wide leafy avenues, backing onto the Suburb. Large kitchens, often two ovens, and utility rooms that need as much attention as the kitchen itself.

Across all three, a good proportion of our work is in kosher kitchens. We keep separate colour-coded cloths and equipment for meat and dairy, never mixed, and we follow your household’s standard rather than assuming we know it. The two weeks before Pesach are the busiest of our year — book early.

The Friday morning slot

The most useful thing we offer in Golders Green is not a rate, it is a time. Friday morning finishing well before candle-lighting is the slot every household wants and the one most cleaning firms cannot hold, because they are fitting you around other work. We can hold it because the round is regular — but there are only so many of them, and in winter, when Shabbat comes in at half past three, they go first.

The point of a regular cleaner rather than a different one each week is that this is learned once. We write it on the job notes so it survives holiday cover, and we do not work Shabbat or Yom Tov.

Family houses, and what the visit actually needs

NW11 is houses with more bathrooms and more children than the bedroom count suggests, and two hours does not touch one. We would rather tell you it is four hours a week than agree to two and leave the upstairs. The hours are quoted at the start and the figure is what you pay.

And where there are children on site, every cleaner being directly employed, right-to-work verified and right-to-work verified is the point rather than a footnote; ask and you get the documents, not an assurance.

Oven cleaning in Golders Green

On an end of tenancy or deep clean the oven is included free — racks, trays, door glass, the seal and the fan housing. On its own it is £69 for a single, £89 for a double and £129 for a range, and we take the door glass apart rather than wiping between the panes and calling it done.

A kosher kitchen is cleaned to your rules, not ours. We do not move anything between the meat and milk sides, we use your cloths and your bowls where you want us to, and we will keep separate equipment for each side if that is what you ask. We clean an oven; we do not kasher it, and we will not pretend otherwise — kashering is yours or your Rav’s to do, and the clean is what comes first so that there is nothing left to burn off.

Double ovens are the norm here rather than the exception, which is £89 standalone, and many houses have two separate ovens, in which case tell us and we will quote both. A range is £129. Inside an end of tenancy or a deep clean the oven is included at no charge. Pre-Pesach oven work books out early — the last two weeks are gone by the end of February most years.
